Chinese Company to partner with Vlisco Group to establish Textile industry in Katsina (Photos)

Governor Aminu Bello Masari said 60% of cotton produced in Nigeria comes from Katsina and the Nigeria is the largest producer of cotton in the sub-Saharan region.

The governor disclosed this when he received a delegation of investors from Netherlands (Vlisco) with their partners from China (Zhucheng Chinatex Sunrise textile & co limited) led by the Special adviser on international investment and international relations Hon. Ibrahim Zakari Ibrahim.
The Governor assured the investors of physical security and commended them for the tailoring training schools they intend to open as a wonderful initiative.

Governor Masari said he is willing to give them all the necessary support that is required to establish the textile manufacturing company in the state.
Governor Masari added that there is no problem of accessing cotton market in katsina due to its abundance and consumers of its end products in form of fabrics.

Earlier the CEO Vlisco group (Netherlands) Mr. David Suddens told the Governor they were back in Katsina with their Chinese partners that produces fabrics for them to inspect the land, cotton samples as part of preparation to finalize the textile manufacturing industry agreement.
The CEO Vlisco Mr. Suddens said “each year Vlisco produces 60million yards of Fabrics”. Also 18million yards are woven in Africa and non in Nigeria which I will change that he said.

Mr Suddens said until they start a weaving factory in Nigeria then there will be requirement for yards, which obviously there will be requirement for cotton as well.
The CEO Vlisco group told the Governor he sees his company printing fabrics in Katsina state and opening retail stores across the country.

But he said Vlisco is going to start with weaving because fabrics that they use and its fabric that we need.
Also responding were the Chinese partners of Vlisco group Zhucheng Chinatex Sunrise textile & co limited led by Mr. Fuji Sun said they have experience of about 50years of textile business.

He added that their products are exported all over the world from Asia, Europe and Africa.
Mr. Fuji Sun said they are in Katsina to partner & cooperate with Vlisco to establish the textile industry from cotton production to fabric printing.

Later, the delegation was taken to inspect the sites in Malumfashi Local Government by the SA international investments & International relations Ibrahim Zakari Ibrahim.

The SA took investors to a ginnery industry in Malumfashi where they saw samples of cottons in abundance.

The Chinese took their time and inspects the quality of the cotton and the ginnery factory.
Part of his entourage was the Special Adviser power, Director Surveyor’s office and others.
