Read How Police Arrest 5 Notorious Over Robbery In Katsina


The Katsina State Police Command has arrested five suspected armed robbers who have been terrorising residents across the state.

In the first case, those arrested are: Murtala Surajo, 20, Buhari Lawal, 20, and Abubakar Ya’u, 20.
Parading the suspects, the state Commissioner of Police, Besen Gwana, said the men, armed with a Dane gun and other dangerous weapons, invaded the house of one Murtala Attahiru in Katakan village, Safana Local Government Area of the state and robbed him of the sum of N40,000 and a phone.  Items recovered from the suspects include;  N17,450, a Tecno handset, Dane gun and a pair of sandals.

The commissioner said the suspects have confessed to the crime, adding that they will soon be charged to court.  

In the second case, the command busted another armed robbery syndicate that invaded and attacked the house of one Alhaji Haruna Mai-Adashi and robbed of him of N1.2 million.  One Salman Salisu, leader of the syndicate and Hamisu Ibrahim were arrested. 

The two persons had been on the police wanted list for a while before the arrest.  

Gwana said the suspects confessed to have participated in several armed robbery attacks in the state.
