Katsina Is Set To Convert New Orthopedics Hospital To State Own Teaching Hospital


Katsina state government is set to establish state own teaching hospital for effective healthcare delivery.

The deputy governor Alh Mannir Yakubu disclosed this while inaugurating the state teaching hospital steering committee in his office.
He said the establishment will improve quality healthcare service in the state. He added that the problems of healthcare could only be addressed through the provision of a state owned hospital and repositioning colleges of nursing for improve performance.

He explained that the hospital will serve as a training ground for medical personnel who include students of medicine, pharmacy, & laboratory medicine.
The deputy governor the hospital will be financed between Katsina state government and Islamic development fund.

Alh Mannir Yakubu stated the term of reference to the committee to be undertaken in other to convert the existing Amadi Rimi orthopedics hospital into fully accreditated teaching hospital for Umaru musa Yar’adua University.
The committee is also saddled with the responsibility to harmonize the ongoing activities of the establishment of a faculty of medicine in Yar’adua with a view to ensure optimal utilization of resources.

The committee is headed by deputy governor Alh Mannir Yakubu, commissioner for health Hajia Mariyatu Bala senior advisor higher education and Vice chancellor Umaru Musa Yar’adua Universities as members.
In a remark, Mariyatu Bala expressed appreciation to participate in the committee and assured to work diligently towards achieving objectives.
