HANNUNKA MAI SANDA - XIV BY MUHAMMED LIL KATSINA

The government of change prides itself in the elevation of agricultural development, at least, at the federal level. This has been effectively manifested in the successful rice production projects initiated in various states of the federation.

Likewise at the state level, the government takes agricultural development as one of its priorities. Fertilizer has been fairy distributed for the rainy season although there have been complaints of inadequacy and late distribution as well as allocations to the wrong people. However such grumbling would never cease because the government can never satisfy 'everybody'. The overall expectation is to reach the majority and that has been satisfactorily achieved.

Presently, the dry season irrigation is in progress and the farmers have cleared their lands and planted various dry season crops. Their expectations from the government are high. Some of them need other seedlings, especially the improved ones, fertilizers, sprays etc.

Such farm inputs are adequately available in the stores of KTARDA but they are yet to start distributing to farmers for timely application. Some of them have even started to expire! There is need for quick intervention by the government, for these needed inputs to reach the farmers at the right time. This would go a long way in improving output and, by extension, bringing overall development of agriculture in the state.
